Obedience

Scripture: Isaiah 50:4-11
Focus Verse: Isaiah 50:6a&c
I gave my back to those who struck me … I did not hide my face from insult and spitting.

Commentary:  In the third Servant Song, Israel’s sin is in stark contrast with the Servant’s obedience. Things will begin to get violent toward the Servant as we see that he will be persecuted yet vindicated when the story is finished.  The Servant resolves to see his task to completion, no matter how difficult the road becomes nor how much suffering will be endured.

Reflection: When have you suffered from sinful behavior of other people?  When have you suffered from doing the right thing?  What is the difference in the way you suffered?

ACTS Prayer
Adoration: Jesus, Messiah, Persecuted Servant, your pain breaks my heart.  I exalt and praise you in all the earth!
Confession: I’m sorry for the times I’ve ignored suffering.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for forgiving me even though I do not deserve it and for helping me see suffering people.
Supplication:  I pray for people persecuted for their faith.

ACTS of Faith:  Light a 3rd candle for persecuted people.
