Scripture: Isaiah 49:1-13
Focus Verse: Isaiah 49:6c
I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth …
Commentary: The second of the four Servant Songs anticipates the Messiah’s coming work in the world and his success which will bring the world to salvation. Although he is exalted by God, we hear the Servant express disappointment that he has labored in vain and spent his strength for nothing.
Reflection: When have you felt that you have worked hard and received nothing in return? Were you able to turn that situation around? From your experience, what insights do you have about how the Servant feels?
ACTS Prayer
Adoration: Jesus, Messiah, Light of the World, you shine!
Confession: I am guilty of sitting in darkness without calling upon your light to enlighten me. Forgive me.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for shining light into the dark corners of my soul and my lifting my life from despair.
Supplication: I pray for all who feel they labor in vain
ACTS of Faith: Light a 2nd candle for the world.
