Wounded

Scripture: Isaiah 52:13-53:12
Focus Verse: Isaiah 53:5
He was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises we are healed.

Commentary: The climactic fourth Servant Song describes the suffering and triumph of the Servant of the LORD. It is one of the most detailed foreshadowing in the Old Testament concerning the death and resurrection of the Messiah. Jesus willingly gave his life for ours. In so doing, Jesus Christ will accomplish the will of God concerning our salvation just as it was prophesied.

Reflection:  Do you believe Jesus died because we are SO bad or because God is SO good?  Or is it a little bit of both?  Does it make a difference in the way you see salvation?

ACTS Prayer
Adoration: Jesus, Messiah, Suffering Servant, I praise you!
Confession: I’m so sorry for the pain you suffered, forgive me when I think your sacrifice was not enough for my sin.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for your sacrifice for humanity.
Supplication: I pray for those who suffer for following God.

ACTS of Faith:  Light a 4th Candle for suffering people.
