Spirit

Scripture: Isaiah 42:1-9
Focus Verse: Isaiah 42:1
Here is my servant ... I have put my spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations.

Commentary:  There are four prophetic “Servant Songs” of Isaiah that progressively describe the service, suffering, and exaltation of the Servant of the Lord, the One who is Messiah, the Chosen and Anointed One.  When reading Isaiah’s servant songs, Christians see Jesus in them and call him Messiah. Isaiah introduces the Servant as the One, filled with the Spirit, who will deliver the world from the prison of sin and set the people free.

Reflection:  What does freedom mean to you?  How has Jesus set you free from sin?

ACTS Prayer
Adoration: Jesus, Messiah, Servant of the Lord, Chosen and Anointed One, Deliverer of the people of the world!
Confession: I confess that I do not always join you in seeking deliverance and justice for all people.
Thanksgiving:  Thank you for your Spirit-filled guidance.
Supplication: I pray for all who are imprisoned by sin.

ACTS of Faith:  Light a candle for people in prison.
