Jesus, Alpha and Omega

Scripture           Read Revelation 1:1-8
Focus Verse      Revelation 1:8
"I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Commentary: Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and Omega is the last.  When we call Jesus our Alpha and Omega, we acknowledge that he is our all in all, our everything, for now and forever.  Jesus is not just a couple of letters; he is also the “Word,” for as John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.”  From the beginning of time until the end of time, Jesus IS, WAS, and WILL BE.  Jesus has lived life to the fullest, and we know he understands our range of emotions because he experienced them, too. We are not alone on our journey!

Reflection: How do you take comfort in knowing Jesus will never leave or forsake you?

Prayer Breathing in … Jesus, Alpha & Omega
Prayer Breathing out … You are my everything

If music is a spiritual pathway for you, we complete our week with Alpha and Omega sung by The Gaither Vocal Band, via YouTube.  I chose this song because it is a beautiful litany of some of our names of Jesus for this week, in the weeks to come, and beyond!
