Scripture Read 1 Timothy 6:11-16
Focus Verse 1 Timothy 6:14, 15
Keep the commandment without spot or blame until the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ which he will bring about at the right time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Commentary: Kings and the Lords who ruled as overseers over their lands had absolute power and control over their subjects. People were expected to be blindly obedient. They were most content when their rulers were benevolent, and their lives were prosperous, which also created a trust relationship. When we allow Jesus to be, not just our Savior, but also our Lord, we find trust and obedience to be a way of life that lead to joy and contentment. We find ourselves becoming more content with what we have rather than disappointed with what we don't have.
Reflection: How is Jesus the Lord of your life?
Prayer Breathing in … Jesus, increase my trust
Prayer Breathing out … Lord, fill me with joy
