Scripture: Matthew 21:1-11 and John 12:12-16
Focus Verse: John 12:13
"Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord--the King of Israel!"
Commentary: Matthew specifically refers to the messianic prophecy of Zechariah to emphasize to his readers that Jesus actively fulfilled that prophecy of a king riding in on a donkey. John adds that the disciples did not remember the prophecy until after the resurrection. Jesus came riding in on a donkey. Jesus IS the king! And the people rejoice, Hosanna! They believe in Jesus the King … for a moment.
Reflection: Have you ever had a Hosanna moment in your spiritual life? What made it that for you?
ACTS Prayer
Adoration: Hosanna! Blessed are you! King of Israel! I praise you Exalted Ruler, King of my Heart!
Confession: I’m sorry for always wanting things to be the ruler of my life and for times I don’t listen when you call.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for being the true King of Israel
Supplication: I pray for the world and its leaders who rule with anger and cruelty, may the people find you in their distress.
