Scripture: Luke 23:13-24
Focus Verse: Luke 23:20-21
Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, addressed them again; but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!”
Commentary: Palm and Passion occupy the same stage, their drama unfolding so close in proximity that we can scarcely make the emotional shift … celebration and praise converge with loss and grief. The cross up ahead in the story casts a shadow upon the world as we wave our palms shouting “hosanna! hosanna!” As the story unfolds moment by moment, one by one, they turn, we turn … “crucify him! crucify him!” wait, what?
Reflection: Have you ever been angry at God? How did you express your anger?
ACTS Prayer
Adoration: Comforting Spirit, fill my heart with love
Confession: I confess that I have not loved you with my whole heart in my anger, set me free from it.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for freedom in Christ.
Supplication: I pray for people who have so much hate in their hearts that they would crucify people who don’t agree with them if they could. Break their hearts of stone.
ACTS of Faith: Meditate with an image of Jesus on the Cross.
