Triumphant

Scripture: Zechariah 9:9-17
Focus Verse: Zechariah 9:9
Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem!  Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Commentary: Zechariah’s image of the Messiah is one that leans more toward the “destroy and take no prisoners” type of Savior that some thought would deliver them.  Indeed, one of the reasons many Jewish people could not accept Jesus as Messiah is that he wasn’t what they were looking for based upon these types of images. Yet, Zechariah says he will be humble. He is!  … riding on a donkey. He does!

Reflection:  What type of Messiah are you looking for?

ACTS Prayer
Adoration: Divine Challenger, Humble Messiah, I long for your gentleness as I raise up your Holy Name, Jesus.
Confession: I confess that humility is not always a quality that I embody, arrogance can sometimes creep in.
Thanksgiving:  Thank you for being patient with me.
Supplication:  I pray for all people who are looking for you in their own way, looking for something they are missing.

ACTS of Faith:  Talk a walk and ponder the humility of nature.
