Struggle

Scripture: Mark 14:34-36
Focus Verse: Mark 14:36b
Remove this cup from me …

Commentary:  After the last supper, Jesus made his way to the Garden of Gethsemane.  He took companions with him, but they found themselves unable to support him, falling asleep repeatedly while praying. On this night Jesus struggled, resisting the path that was laid out for him until it was inevitable.  It is important to remember that God did not take his life, Jesus gave up his life when his struggle subsided.  He gave up his free will for God’s will.

Reflection:  Have you ever struggled with God’s will?  How did you determine what was God’s will and what was yours?  What happened when you embraced God’s will, not yours?

ACTS Prayer
Adoration: O God, Keeper of the Vigil, your will is perfect!
Confession: I struggle with your will, for my own free will is ever before me, calling me down errant pathways.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for sending angels along my path.
Supplication:  I pray for those who enter the battle of wills but emerge beaten down and defeated. Send more angels!

ACTS of Faith:  Be present as someone’s angel today.
