Strength

Scripture: Luke 22:31-34
Focus Verse: Luke 22:32b
When once you have turned back, strengthen your brothers …

Commentary:  What an incredible contrast in discipleship!  Just as Jesus knew that Judas would betray him, he knew that Simon Peter would betray him as well. He knows that Simon Peter is impulsive but steady as a rock at the same time.  He even called Peter “the rock.”  He indicates that Peter will be called upon to provide strength for the community in the future.

Reflection:  How does God strengthen you for your Christian journey?  If God gave you a new name, what would it be?

ACTS Prayer
Adoration:  O God, our Strong Fortress, you are mighty!
Confession: I admit that I sometimes run from community especially when I am exhausted and that is too often.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for giving me strength when I have none of my own.  Change my name, O God!
Supplication:  I pray for all who need to be strengthened in their inner being for the journey ahead.

ACTS of Faith:  Find a rock, use a sharpie to put your name on it and remember that Jesus will give you strength.
