Leadership

Scripture: Philippians 2:1-10
Focus Verse: Philippians 2:7
(Jesus) made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant …

Commentary:  This passage encourages us to have the mind of Christ, who made himself nothing by becoming a servant.  This doesn’t sound very appealing.  Who wants to be “nothing?”  However, true leadership IS servanthood, and Jesus teaches us a selfless leadership style in which he looked to the interests of others over his own.

Reflection:  How would you describe the leadership style of Jesus?  How do you embody your description of his style?

ACTS Prayer
Adoration:  Holy Jesus, Chief Cornerstone, I admire you!
Confession: I usually ask “what’s in it for me” as I listen.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for modeling selflessness to me.
Supplication:  I pray for servant leadership in the world.

ACTS of Faith:  Find a bible verse that you can carry in your heart to remember the interests of others above or at least alongside your own.  *This act of faith cannot exist in abusive relationships. If you are being abused, your act of faith is to call someone and tell the truth of what is happening to you.
