Giving Thanks

Scripture: Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19
Focus Verse: Psalm 116:16a
O Lord, I am your servant, I am your servant …

Commentary:  Psalm 116 is a beautiful song of thanksgiving. Since ancient times it has been used liturgically in the celebration of Passover during the Passover meal.  The last few verses raises the question of what the we can offer God in return for God's goodness and salvation.  The Psalmist has felt the liberating movement of God and in response cries out, “I am your servant!”

Reflection:  Take a moment to look over your life and notice the presence of God.  How have you felt the liberating movement of God?  How have you responded?

ACTS Prayer
Adoration: Liberating God, you move through my life with beauty and power, I will praise you all my days!
Confession: I confess that I have not always seen You.
Thanksgiving: But I thank you for being with me anyway.
Supplication: I pray for people who need to be set free, physically or emotionally, help them find their way.

ACTS of Faith:  Look for God’s presence in other people today, tell someone how you see God in them.
