A Crown

Scripture: Matthew 27:27-37
Focus Verse: Matthew 27:29
After twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on his head … mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

Commentary: Without understanding the story, what an incredible contrast one might see between the image of the Suffering Servant and the King of the Jews!  It is hard to comprehend these images together.  For sure, Jesus was NOT the Messiah everyone was hoping for, but he was the One we needed.  Praise God!

Reflection:  Which image of God are you most comfortable with:  Jesus, Suffering Servant or Jesus, King of the Jews?  Which feels more accurate to the God you know and follow?

ACTS Prayer
Adoration: Jesus, Suffering Servant! Jesus, King of the Jews, I exalt you!  You are all we need!  I praise you!
Confession: I confess that I can’t see you in your fullness.
Thanksgiving: Thank you for revealing yourself as I can understand you, little by little as I come to know you more.
Supplication:  I pray for those who are confused, for those who think you should conform to their small images of God.

ACTS of Faith:  Find an image of a crucifix to pray with
