Jesus, Lion of Judah

Scripture         Read Revelation 5:1-10
Focus Verse    Revelation 5:5
Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Commentary:  Once again Jesus is connected to the glory of the past Kingdom. The title “Lion of Judah” reminds us not only of the sovereignty of Jesus, but also his faithfulness. Although we wait for the fulfillment of prophesies, God’s faithfulness in the past reassures us of God’s trustworthiness both today and in the future.

Reflection: How has God been faithful to you?  How does that increase your trust in God for the future?

Prayer Breathing in … Jesus, Lion of Judah
Prayer Breathing out … I trust you now and forever

If music is a spiritual pathway for you, today is a day we move deeply into our advent preparation, looking forward in expectation to the time of Christ's return while also waiting for the birth of the Christ child.  I invite you to listen to The Lion and the Lamb (also known as Lion of Judah) sung by Big Daddy Weave, via YouTube.
