Jesus, King of the Jews

Scripture         Read Matthew 2:1-12
Focus Verse    Matthew 2:2
Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.

Commentary:  The story of the Magi (astronomers) from the east is one of the central narratives in the church’s celebration of the early life of Jesus. From as far back as the time of the Babylonian exile and their interaction with the Israelite community, these learned men would have been aware of Jewish prophecy. They would have been watching the stars to alert them to his birth and to guide their journey to the manger.

Reflection:  What or Who guides the journey of your life?  How do you worship God every day?

Prayer Breathing in … Jesus, my King
Prayer Breathing out … Guide my Journey

If music is a spiritual pathway for you, this will be an interesting devotional journey through advent.  Today we listen to a song, via YouTube, not usually heard on the first Sunday of Advent as we honor Jesus as "King:"  We Three Kings by Clamavi De Profundis, a family that loves to sing together and record inspiring and uplifting music.

We invite you to worship with us. You can access live OR recorded.
