Will You or Won't You?

Dear One ... Breathe deeply and take a few moments to center yourself on the presence of God in Christ.  Remember that you are being invited to dwell within God's presence with each breath ...

As you breathe, pray ... Holy Breath, come into my heart with the wisdom of your Word.

Read the passage slowly with a sense of openness to the Breath of God ...

Matthew 21:28-30  "What do you think? A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.'  He answered, 'I will not'; but later he changed his mind and went.  The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, 'I go, sir'; but he did not go.  Which of the two did the will of his father?"

Read just these few words again slowly and Reflect.  What word or few words draw your attention?   Repeat that word or few words.  Ponder the Word that desires to be heard deep within you.  Let any feelings you have about yourself and your own way of being emerge.  Welcome your feelings ... whatever they may be ... know that God stays with you until your heart and your mind are in sync.

Read the passage again slowly and Respond.   Talk to God about your natural way of being.  What part of yourself do you want to offer God?    As you seek to know and do the will of God, what commitment would you make to draw closer to God in your spiritual life?

Read the passage again and Rest.    Allow your mind to come to a place of silence.  Let all of your thoughts evaporate until you are simply sitting with God, rocking on the porch of your consciousness ...

When you sense the time to move on, Pray ... God of infinite Patience, thank you for waiting for me to find stillness in my heart.

Cindy's Journal Reflection ...
will, your will or my will ... I feel like my will is so strong and how easy it is to simply do what I want to do and call it the will of God.  How do I know the will of God anyway?  How do I rest in a life of ... not my will but yours be done?   How do I love others in the way of Christ?  How do I embrace sacrifice in the way of Christ?

Holy God, with each breath may I whisper deep within ...
not my will but your be done

Amen.
