Last week George Barna conducted a seminar entitled "Why Houston Christians Don't Go To Church." This link will take you to an article written by Texas Annual Conference Bishop Janice Riggle Huie ... Why Don't Christians Go To Church? about some of the things she learned.
The most interesting thing I learned from her article is that I am the demographic for unchurched "Christians" in Houston. FYI: Barna considers an unchurched Christian to be someone who hasn't attended church in the last 6 months or feels no commitment to any church they did attend. Keep in mind that this seminar refers to "self-identified" Christian people and does NOT address non-Christian people at all.
Why not take the time to read this article and comment on the most interesting thing YOU learned.
Who are you trying to reach out to? Does this article change the way you think about the people you are trying to reach out to? Why or why not? In what ways does this article keep us in a "safe" zone and out of "risk-taking" mission? In what ways does this article invite you to change your thinking? In what ways does this article affirm your thinking? In what ways does this article frustrate you?
