We continue wandering and wondering through the psalms as we engage in the spiritual practice of Lectio Divina which is divine reading. Listen for God’s word to you as you identify a focus word or phrase in your reading. Before we begin our Lectio practice, we pray: God of Stillness, open my heart to your Word. Lead me as I read and open the eyes of my heart so that I might see and seek the understanding you desire. Amen.
Scripture: Read & Reflect on Psalm 70 which is a message for one who is in crisis. It points to a foundational quality of the community that God calls forth to share in God’s mission: rejoicing in the deliverance of ALL, resisting joy in the suffering of those in crisis.
Focus: What word or phrase opens your heart to God’s mission and healing presence?
__________________________
Relax and simply open your heart to a word or phrase, if you’re still not sure, just choose a word and go with it.
Read & Receive: Read the psalm a second time and allow yourself to be drawn into the text, considering who God might desire your grace and mercy for. Is there anyone who comes to your mind as you open your heart to receive who God might lead you to?
Read & Respond: Read the psalm a third time. If someone has come to your mind, how might God be calling you to reach out to, to share a word or hope or encouragement or just to check in?

Rest & Breath Prayer: Let go of your prayers. Rest in silence. When if feels like it is time to bring your time of praying with scripture to a close, create a breath prayer or breath this one ...
Breathing in … O God, my Deliverer
Breathing out … Come Quickly to Help Me
